The Breast Cancer Initiative

Addressing Chemotherapy Resistance
A CME/CE Web-Based Activity

Image description

The Breast Cancer Initiative consists of 3 On-Demand, case-based CME/CE workshops that address the lack of standard of care for patients with metastatic disease resistant to anthracyclines and taxanes. Mechanisms of resistance are discussed as a basis for understanding how emerging agents can overcome this resistance. Participants will explore recent data on new treatment options, including the epothilones, a new microtubule-targeting class of agents, and specifically ixebepilone, which was recently the first in this class of agents to gain FDA approval. The safety profiles of these new agents and salvage combination regimens are reviewed, as is the management of associated adverse events.
